Which departures still have seats

Two one-day tours fly from Alberta to Churchill in fall 2026. They leave on overlapping dates and are easy to confuse, so here is the difference.

Two different days

Polar bear safari, or Churchill Adventure?

Tour A

Churchill Polar Bear Safari

The long-running signature trip. The middle of the day is spent on a Tundra Buggy® on the coast looking for bears.

  • 5–6 hour guided Tundra Buggy® excursion
  • Return charter flight from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Breakfast aloft, lunch on the buggy, banquet dinner in town
  • Naturalist on the flight
  • Ground transfers in Churchill

Suits you if the bears are the point and you accept that they may stay distant.

Tour B · new for 2026

Churchill Adventure Day Tour

A town-and-culture day rather than a tundra day. Departs Calgary on 14 November 2026.

  • Churchill town tour by motorcoach
  • Dog sledding with Wapusk Adventures
  • Itsanitaq Museum of Inuit art and artefacts
  • Breakfast aloft, lunch at the Ptarmigan, banquet dinner
  • Time for souvenir shopping

Suits you if you want the place, the people and the dogs — and you are not banking on a bear.

Worth saying plainly

The Churchill Adventure tour does not include a Tundra Buggy® excursion. If you book it expecting the bear safari, you will be disappointed, and nothing in the refund policy will help you.

Looking at 2027

If 2026 is closed to you

The 2027 dates have not been published. The operator runs a waitlist and releases dates to it first; the tours have sold out in advance in recent seasons, and the operator itself recommends reserving around six months ahead.

One structural point worth understanding: waitlists here do clear. When a traveller cancels, the operator tries to resell the seat — and reselling it is precisely how the cancelling traveller gets their money back. The waitlist is the refund mechanism, viewed from the other end.
